InCommon, operated by Internet2, provides a secure and privacy-preserving trust fabric for research and higher education, and their partners, in the United States. InCommon's identity management federation serves 8 million end-users (IPEDS data; October 2014). InCommon also operates a related assurance program, and offers certificate and multifactor authentication services.

IAM Online April 8 - Improving Authentication Security

The April 8 IAM Online (2 pm ET) will feature a discussion of effort to improve authenticatoin security. A number of U.S. organizations are working to improve the security of identities and authentication, including promoting and expanding multifactor authentication and educating individuals and institutions about staying secure online. The April IAM Online will feature speakers from three of these organizations: the National Cyber Security Alliance, the FIDO (Fast IDentity Online) Alliance, and the National Strategy for Trusted Identities in Cyberspace (part of the National Institute for Standards and Technology). Registration Open for Shibboleth Installation Workshop (May 14-15) - Focus on IdPv3

InCommon Fedeation logoRegistration is open for the first InCommon Shibboleth Installation Workshop of the year, May 14-15, at George Washington University’s Science and Technology Campus in Ashburn, Virginia (near Dulles airport). The Shibboleth IdP has changed with the release of Version 3 and we will focus the training sessions on people who wish to learn about and eventually deploy the new version. Those interested in upgrading from v2.x will also find value, but we will mainly cover IdPv3 as an independent topic to ensure we deliver the clearest content possible. Read the full announcement.

SAML Turns 10

SAML Turns 10The community recently marked the 10th anniversary of the adoption of SAML V2.0 as a standard for exchanging authentication and authorization data between parties.
