InCommon Software Guidelines and Protocol Support

InCommon recommends and supports the following protocols:

Protocol Level of Support
SAML V2.0 Supported (see the FAQ). Also, see the FAQ on SAML and Shibboleth relationship.
SAML V1.1 (legacy) Supported (but not preferred)

InCommon recommends and supports the following software systems:

Software Level of Support
Shibboleth 2.0 and later Supported (visit: shibboleth.internet2.edu)
Shibboleth 1.3 and earlier Unsupported

In terms of software, "Supported" means that InCommon has tested the software and that it works properly within ordinary expectations and that the Federation will supply specific instructions on its configuration. For community peer support, please use whatever support channels are associated with the software you are using. Note: InCommon Affiliates provide consulting and other fee-based support options. InCommon does not offer per-site consultation.

Other SAML-based software systems may be used; however, such systems are not actively supported by InCommon. Active support for systems other than those listed above will be considered as participant needs arise. Changes to supported versions are announced on this web page and are made under the advisement of the InCommon Technical Advisory Committee, whose members are listed on our about page.
