Join InCommon - Sponsored Partners
1. Sponsorship Overview
Joining requirements for Sponsored Partners include:
- Sponsorship letter from the InCommon Executive at a current InCommon Higher Education or Research Organization participant (see below). An email is fine, but it must come from the InCommon exec. If you need help finding a sponsor, please email admin@incommon.org.
- Documentation of annual revenue (annual fees for Sponsored Partners are based on annual revenue - see below).
- Participation agreement (see below).
2. Review the Fee Schedule
Each participant in the InCommon Federation pays a one-time registration fee and also an annual fee.
- The one-time registration fee ($700) covers the costs of vetting your organization, as well as the identity proofing of your executive and administrator. This fee is paid by credit card when you submit your on-line registration form.
- The annual fee supports the ongoing operations of the federation. For Sponsored Partners, the fee structure is tailored to annual revenue. Annual fees are prorated for your first year of participation, based on the quarter in which your organization joins the federation.
3. Send Us Three Documents
- Documentation of annual revenue - Send a document demonstrating your annual revenue. The preferred document is the revenue page from your most recent annual report. A page from an audit will also suffice. If neither are available, please send a statement on company letterhead attesting to the annual revenue.
- Participation Agreement - Send us a signed copy of the InCommon
Participation Agreement (pdf) by postal mail, fax or email (admin@incommon.org).
- Delegating your trusted Executive (we will identity-proof this person for security).
- Signed by an authorized representative of your
organization.
- Sponsor Letter - Have your sponsor (the InCommon Executive from a current InCommon higher education institution) send the sponsorship letter (email is fine). See the templates for sponsorship letters below.

Sample Sponsorship Letter
Dear InCommon,
SAMPLE University entered into a business relationship with PARTNER in 2007 to use their web-based resource to support individualized instruction in IT topics to faculty, staff, and students. We want to use our identity management system to leverage their product. In addition, we are currently engaged in a project with PARTNER that will allow our students to access digital versions of textbooks published by PARTNER in a way that leverages our identity management system. For both of these products we want to be able to provide access either directly by end users or via our course management systems. In order to accomplish our goals with both of these services, we would like to sponsor PARTNER to join InCommon.
